Behind the Lens: Conserving the Oregon Coast

The Oregon Coast holds a timeless beauty — rugged cliffs, wind-swept trees, and tides that breathe life into the shore. During my latest Behind the Lens journey, I visited Cannon Beach, Hug Point, Shore Acres, and Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor — each location a reminder that nature’s artistry is also its strength.

Through my camera, I sought to capture not only the grandeur of these coastal landscapes but also their vulnerability. Erosion, rising seas, and human impact continue to shape these delicate ecosystems. Yet amid this, there’s a profound resilience — from the sea stacks that endure each crashing wave to the tide pools that cradle new life every day.

This episode reflects the mission of Global Voices for Nature: to inspire awareness and action through art. By honoring these landscapes, we remind ourselves that conservation is not just about preservation — it’s about connection.
