Welcoming a New Year: Reflections on an Inspiring 2025

As the new year begins, I find myself reflecting with deep gratitude on what has been an extraordinary and fulfilling 2025. This past year was defined by creative growth, meaningful connections, and the opportunity to share my fine art photography with collectors, curators, and audiences across the country and beyond. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of those who believe in my work and the stories it tells.

Echoes of Sunlit Granite Valleys

As the eye moves upward, the scene transitions into a mountain slope alive with color and seasonal nuance. The trees adorning the granite mountainside shift from deep summer greens to warm autumn tones—rust, amber, muted gold, and evergreen shadows blending naturally. This palette brings a sense of warmth to the middle of the composition, creating a visual bridge between the earthy foreground and the cooler, distant peaks. The interplay of hues evokes the soft, breathing rhythm of a landscape preparing for the colder days ahead, capturing a fleeting moment when seasons overlap in delicate harmony.

To every collector who welcomed one of my photographs into your home or workspace—thank you. Your support allows my art to live beyond the gallery walls and become part of your daily life. To the curators, gallery directors, and exhibition teams who invited my work into thoughtfully curated shows—your belief in my vision is deeply appreciated and never taken for granted.

In 2025, I was honored to participate in eight exhibitions that each marked an important milestone in my artistic journey. These opportunities allowed my work to reach new audiences and to stand alongside artists whose work I admire.

I was proud to be represented at Red Dot Miami by AGI Fine Art Gallery of New York, an experience that continues to open doors and conversations well beyond the fair itself. My work was also included in INNOVATIONS 2025 – the 34th Annual International Open Juried Exhibition in Ormond Beach, Florida, celebrating contemporary artistic expression on an international scale.

Locally, the energy and scale of Big & Bold 1 & 2 at Car Team USA in Stuart, Florida provided an exciting platform to present large, impactful work. Nationally juried exhibitions such as Black and White at A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas and Trees & Water at Black Box Gallery in Portland, Oregon offered powerful contexts to explore themes of contrast, stillness, and the natural world.

International exposure continued through ArtExpo New York, where I was represented by Circle Foundation of the Arts in France, further expanding the global reach of my photography. Closer to home, Mirror Mirror at the Cornell Art Museum in Delray Beach, Florida was a meaningful opportunity to exhibit within a respected institutional setting that values thoughtful storytelling and artistic depth.

Contours Beneath the Frame

A striking statement for design-forward interiors. As large wall art, Contours Beneath the Frame lends presence without visual clutter—ideal for contemporary, minimalist, Japandi, and modern rustic spaces. The image’s strong lines harmonize with architectural details like exposed beams, concrete, steel, and natural wood. Hang it above a console, sofa, or credenza to anchor a living room; place it in an entryway for a dramatic first impression; or use it as a focal point in dining rooms and primary bedrooms. Its neutral palette layers seamlessly with limewash or matte walls, textured linens, ceramic accents, and warm wood tones.

This past September, I was deeply honored to be accepted as a Juried Member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). With a legacy dating back to 1889, NAWA represents excellence, advocacy, and artistic leadership. This recognition is a meaningful milestone in my journey and a validation of the path my work continues to take.

Beyond exhibitions, 2025 was also a year of exploration. Traveling to many locations across the United States allowed me to capture new landscapes, intimate wildlife moments, and quiet scenes that speak to both resilience and beauty. These journeys continue to shape my creative direction and deepen my commitment to conservation-focused storytelling through fine art photography.

Looking ahead, I am especially excited to celebrate a significant milestone in our nation’s history. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, I will be releasing a Black and White limited edition photography book featuring images from my travels through multiple states and national parks. This collection reflects not only the visual diversity of America’s landscapes, but also the shared responsibility we hold to protect them. The book is scheduled for release around March, and I look forward to sharing more details soon.

Canyon Veins of Fiery Light

A versatile statement for interiors. Canyon Veins in Fiery Light enriches both modern and traditional spaces with its layered palette and commanding scale. In contemporary interiors, its bold reds and oranges bring warmth and energy, anchoring rooms with striking vibrancy. In rustic or nature-inspired spaces, the earthy tones harmonize with wood, stone, and organic textures, creating balance and calm. Large-format prints transform entryways, dining rooms, or living rooms into immersive environments, while smaller editions lend intimacy to offices, libraries, or bedrooms.

Central to this next chapter is the continued growth of my nonprofit organization, Global Voices for Nature Foundation Inc. The foundation will play an increasingly important role in spreading awareness about the conservation of wildlife and our natural resources through education, visual storytelling, and community engagement. Art has the power to inspire action, and this mission is woven deeply into everything I create.

As we step into the new year, I want you to know how grateful I am that you are part of this journey—whether as a collector, curator, collaborator, or supporter from afar. Your encouragement fuels my work and reinforces the belief that art can be both beautiful and purposeful.

Here’s to a new year filled with creativity, connection, and continued dedication to the natural world that inspires us all. Thank you for being part of my story—and for allowing my art to be part of yours.

Warmest wishes for a joyful and inspiring New Year,
Doreen McGunagle
