Between Lavender and Water: The Beginning of a Global Journey

There are places in the world where nature and culture have evolved together for centuries, creating landscapes that are as inspiring as they are fragile. Southern France is one of those places.

I'm excited to share Between Lavender and Water, the first documentary in my new series, Edges of Performance: A Global Journey Through Earth's Most Fragile Ecosystems.

This film marks the beginning of a long-term photographic and documentary journey to explore some of the world's most extraordinary environments. Each episode is designed to reveal not only the beauty of a place but also the delicate relationships that allow these ecosystems to thrive.

A Story Beyond Beautiful Landscapes

When many people think of Provence, they picture endless lavender fields stretching toward the horizon. Those fields are certainly breathtaking, but they are only one chapter of a much larger story.

As I traveled through Southern France, I discovered an ecosystem defined by connections.

The lavender fields give way to vibrant sunflower farms that support essential pollinators. Farther south, the landscape transforms into the internationally recognized wetlands of the Camargue, where greater flamingos gather in remarkable numbers and the famous white horses roam freely across the marshes. These wetlands have long been cared for by the Guardians, whose traditions reflect generations of stewardship and respect for the land.

Together, these landscapes illustrate something that has become central to my work: nature is never isolated. Every ecosystem depends on the relationships between land, water, wildlife, and people.

Photography as Conservation Storytelling

My work has always been about more than documenting beautiful places.

Through fine art photography and documentary filmmaking, I hope to encourage viewers to slow down, look more closely, and appreciate the complexity of the natural world. Every photograph becomes part of a larger narrative—one that reminds us that conservation begins with understanding and appreciation.

Southern France offered countless moments of quiet beauty: morning light across lavender fields, the graceful movements of greater flamingos reflected in calm wetlands, and the powerful presence of the Camargue horses moving through shallow water. Together, these moments tell a story of resilience, balance, and coexistence.

The Beginning of Edges of Performance

Between Lavender and Water is the first chapter in Edges of Performance: A Global Journey Through Earth's Most Fragile Ecosystems.

Over the coming years, the series will travel to some of the world's most remarkable environments, including coral reefs, alpine landscapes, polar ice, African savannas, volcanic regions, coastal ecosystems, and ancient forests. Each documentary and photographic collection will become part of an expanding body of work celebrating Earth's extraordinary biodiversity while highlighting the importance of conservation.

The series will also accompany my upcoming fine art book, Edges of Performance: A Global Journey Through Earth's Most Fragile Ecosystems, with the First Edition scheduled for publication in 2027.

Watch the Premiere

I invite you to join me for the premiere of Between Lavender and Water and experience Southern France through the lens of fine art photography and conservation storytelling.

Thank you for following this journey and for supporting my work. Whether through photography, documentary filmmaking, exhibitions, or books, my goal remains the same—to celebrate the beauty of our natural world while inspiring others to protect it.

Every ecosystem has a story. This is one chapter in a journey that spans our planet.

Because every edge is worth protecting.
